Rick Ross crashes car after gunshots fired in Florida

Rapper Rick Ross has noted in lyrics that he’s often “Talkin’ to the Holy Ghost in my Bugatti,” but early this morning, he was more likely praying inside his Rolls-Royce.

Ross, a.k.a. William Leonard Roberts, was at the center of a shooting and crash this morning after celebrating his 37th birthday at the Miami nightclub LIV. Unknown assailants fired “dozens” of rounds at a Rolls-Royce he was driving just outside the city, Fort Lauderdale police said.

In attempting to get away, Ross crashed into an apartment building, police said, adding that neither Ross nor his passenger, Shateria L. Moragne-el, was injured. However, according to authorities, the pair at first tried to keep their names out of news reports for fear of future attacks.

Police are still looking for the gunman or gunmen, who fled the area before officers arrived.

It’s been a busy year for Ross and his nemeses. Ross had to cancel several concerts recently after the Gangster Disciples threatened to crash the gates at two North Carolina shows in reprisal for him allegedly appropriating the gang’s logo for his mixtape “Black Bar Mitzvah” and comparing himself to GD’s imprisoned founder, Larry Hoover. Other GD chapters, including Florida’s, have made explicit threats to him via YouTube.

Last year, Ross made news when a body was found outside a Miami Gardens, Fla., home that he owned, but Ross claimed he didn’t live there at the time. He’s also repeatedly suffered from seizures and other heath problems in the last year.
