Charlie Puth announces ‘The Voicenotes’ tour with Hailee Steinfeld

Charlie Puth is set for the biggest headlining tour of his career.

The New Jersey-born teen-pop vocal star on Monday announced his 2018 “The Voicenotes” tour. The summer concert trek begins July 11 in Toronto and concludes Sept. 1 in West Palm Beach, Fla.

It includes an Aug. 17 San Diego date at Mattress Firm Amphitheatre, as well as an Aug. 14 show at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles and an Aug. 15 show at FivePoint Amphitheatre in Irvine. All cities and tour dates appear below. Hailee Steinfeld will be the opening act.

The tour is in support of Puth’s upcoming second album, “The Voicenotes,” which is due for release sometime next year. His San Diego show will mark his first area appearance since he opened for Shawn Mendes’ July 12 concert at Valley View Casino Center.

A Berklee College of Music graduate, Puth, 26, rose to prominence after posting videos on YouTube of him singing hit songs by other artists, followed by some of his own songs. His YouTube popularity led to his signing a major label record deal, scoring a hit single, “Marvin Gaye,” in 2015 and releasing his love ballad-packed debut album last year.

Puth co-wrote and sang on Wiz Khalifa’s chart-topping “Furious 7” movie soundtrack hit “See You Again,” which resulted in a video that now has more than 3 billion views. Puth will sing his 2017 hit, “How Long,” Tuesday on the Season 13 finale of “The Voice,” which will also feature performances by Kelly Clarkson and Sia.

Tickets for Puth’s “The Voicenotes” tour go on sale to the general public Friday at livenation.com and ticketmaster.com. Pre-sales, including for Citi card holders, begin Tuesday. As of this writing, ticket prices had not yet been announced.
