bernini
Cardinal Scipione Borghese (1632). The cardinal was Berninis first great patron, commissioning complicated life-size figures such as Apollo and Daphne and David from the young sculptor. They made Bernini famous the new Michelangelo, as Romans quickly dubbed him. This is Berninis second portrait of the cardinal, made in a hurry after the first one cracked across the forehead.
