Special Order 40
1.
WHEN DID IMMIGRANTS EQUAL CRIMINAL? How did the fate of many hardworking, sincere immigrants, undocumented or not, get ambushed by popular outrage and been intertwined with everything that is wrong with this city? I don't have any answers. I ask my fellow readers to pause for a moment and think before they seek to overturn a rule that for better or worse, has helped LA slip from the country's top crime-ridden cities. I respect the anger and frustration but I urge caution, in these hard times of economic depression, from laying all the blame on immigrants and forgetting how much this city owes to them, inasmuch as they owe this city.
2. We must do everything possible to eliminate innocent people being murdered at the expense of politically correct procedures and so-called racial profiling. Why are hurt feelings a bigger concern than people getting murdered? If the statistics show an increase in crime and prison inmates due to illegal immigration than this convinves me we have a serious problem and at a minimim special order 40 must be amended for known criminal illegals.
3. I would modify the pro-illegal statements of Rutten especially the last phrase: An L.A. in which illegal immigrants commit whichever crimes they want and then innocently walk in front of the police is about as close to anarchy as anything anyone can imagine
4. Rutten writes that illegal immigrants who are fearful of talking to police is close to anarchy. The definition of anarchy is "absence of government; political disorder; absence or non-recognition of authority and order in any given sphere." Immigrants who enter a country without permission while authorities refuse to acknowlege immigration laws is anarchy. Rutten should check his dictionary before making such a silly statement.
5. To those who think most illegals are good people: You arrive home and find burglars who tell you, "We've cleaned your home, done the dishes, made the beds, etc., all the jobs you don't like to do--now you must 1) pay us and let us live here; 2) add us to your family's health care (including free liver transplants); 3) educate our children; and 4) learn our language to talk to us. This is only fair, since you live in a nicer house than we do, and we're just trying to better ourselves." You can thank Special Order 40 for this. Submitted by: A Raw Deal for Citizens
6. What's happened to Chief Bratton? I thought he was a crimefighter. Instead, he's turned into a "useful idiot" for the La Raza crowd. I want ALL laws against illegals strictly ENFORCED! And don't tell me how expensive and time consuming it will be to update police computers, or give me any more excuses. Special Order 40 MUST BE REPEALED!
7. As law-abiding legal citizens, we're all in a datebase that's checked every time we go abroad on vacation, do a large bank transaction, etc., yet you justify not putting illegal gangbangers, who ARE international terrorists, into a nationally shared databank? Bratton's supposed to be computer savvy but won't share data within his own dept. to ID these criminals, let alone share data with other agencies or feds? Your "justifications" are all indictments, politically ordering incompetence.
8. Rutten should read his colleague's article 4/9, by Blankstein: refutes his b.s. "can't enforce" arguments. WHY only allow a few gang detail cops to look at the database of gangbangers we taxpayers paid for? Cop cars need to be able to call in a suspect and get a full check. Need to share data with Sheriff's, other police depts. and ICE. These idiots asked killer Espinoza if he's illegal, he said no, they believed him and put him on the street to kill Jamiel Shaw next day! That's what you're defending?
9. Tim thanks for brining some common sense. While it is very unfortunately what happened to the Shaw family, one of the points of conversation that is missing is "why do we have kids killing other kids." The bottom line that this is not a Latino, African American, or immigrant issue, this is about lack of opportunities to kids in urban areas. It is not an accident that both Latino and African American youth has one of the higher drop out rate, yet both have one of the higher rate of incarceration. Let’s honor the live of this young kid by fighting the real enemy poverty and lack of opportunities to kids in the ghetto and barrios.
10. Order 40 is a complete failure. It continues to allow criminals to remain in our nation and victimize it's citizens. We have a moron for Mayor that failed the bar 4 times! He isn't qualified to manage a McDonald's. He's also a member of MEChA and supports La Raza, the Hispanic Caucus, and the ACLU. Vote Villaraigosa out of office along with his supporters on the city council. It's not up to our city officials to choose which laws should be enforced and which criminals should be arrested. I urge ICE to make LA a priority in it's workplace raids. Way to go ICE!
