NEW YORK -- Uma Thurman said Thursday that she was confused, frightened and panicked when her accused stalker delivered a card bearing a picture of an open grave and a man standing on the edge of a razor blade.

The 38-year-old actress took the witness stand in Manhattan state Supreme Court in the trial of Jack Jordan, who is accused of following and trying to contact her for two years.

She said Jordan came to her trailer while she was shooting a movie in SoHo and asked to see her. He was prevented from doing so by her assistant, who promised to deliver the card to her.

Thurman said she was "completely freaked out" by the card, which contained the words: "My hands should be on your body at all times."

Jordan is charged with stalking and aggravated harassment. He faces up to a year in jail if convicted.

On the heels of events such as terrorist attacks, say researchers, some people do better to leave things unsaid for a while.
