Human endurance has long been the movies' supreme subject. Already, with the recent release of the wrenching new feature "Precious," we have traveled to hell and back with a 16-year-old incest survivor. More sexual violence is coming our way, with director Peter Jackson's adaptation of "The Lovely Bones," which promises a poetic vision of the afterlife as experienced by a young girl raped and murdered by a neighbor. Happy holidays!
