Blue Planet shows films to inspire a green future

Saving animals and the environment is the theme of a four-day film festival that kicks off in Santa Monica today. Among the short and feature-length movies to be screened are “Wild Ocean,” “Poisoned Waters,” “Hummingbird Magic,” “Once Upon a Tide” and “Climate Change: How Do We Know?”

But more than just exposing audiences to the issues through film, Mira Tweti, executive director of the Blue Planet Film Fest, said she wants to “motivate them to action” and, accordingly, also will be offering workshops and other interactive events for people to get more information about what they can do.

The screenings will be held at the Santa Monica Playhouse (1211 4th St.) and the Santa Monica Bay Women’s Club (1210 4th St.).
