<b>Town history:</b> For many years a myth prevailed that Miles Chatterbox Musket founded the town. According to the story, he was thrown overboard on his voyage to America, was saved from drowning by a clam and the duo founded Quahog (which, of course, means "clam") together. It was later revealed by a fortune teller that an exiled Englishman named Griffin Peterson established Quahog as a white supremacist colony in the 17th century.
