Jamie Foxx goes from late-night laughs to mainstream acclaim
By Stephanie Lysaght
At the onset of his career, Jamie Foxx made a name for himself on the small screen. First with a supporting role on the early '90s sketch show "In Living Color" and then with his own comedy on the WB, "The Jamie Foxx Show." In 1999 Foxx was cast in Oliver Stone's "Any Given Sunday" and offers for more serious fare soon followed. In 2005, Foxx won the best actor Oscar for the biopic "Ray." Foxx now gets his giggles from his Sirius radio show, so it appears he'll be sticking to the heavy stuff on screen. His role as a former musical prodigy turned homeless man in "The Soloist" hit theaters in May. |
