Boeing Rocket Lab President John F. Kennedy called space exploration “the most hazardous and dangerous and greatest adventure on which man has ever embarked.” The Boeing Rocket Lab, a new, permanent exhibit, captures that adventure with engaging experiments, interactive model-rocket displays and a real rocket booster engine that simulates a launch. The exhibit is the first phase of the Space Exploration Gallery. Discovery Science Center, 2500 N. Main St., Santa Ana. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sat. 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sun. $12.95 general admission, $9.95 children 3-17. (714) 542-2823. https://www.discoverycube.org.

POP MUSIC

Dum Dum Girls If there’s a sound of summer in L.A. indie in 2010, it’s the kind of scuzzed-out, Spector-addled, two-minute pop bliss that the Dum Dum Girls ply. Their debut full-length, “I Will Be,” is like a bag of candy dropped in broken glass — shredded but sweet, delicious but disenchanted. Detroit Bar, 843 W. 19th St., Costa Mesa. 9 p.m. $10. https://www.detroitbar.com.

July 4th Fireworks Spectacular with special guest Vince Gill It doesn’t get much more all-American than fireworks and Vince Gill. The country superstar joins the L.A. Philharmonic and the U.S. Air Force Band of the Golden West for a weekend of patriotic music and dazzling pyrotechnics. Hollywood Bowl, 2301 North Highland Ave., Hollywood. 7:30 p.m. Sat.-Sun. $12-$120. (323) 850-2000. https://www.hollywoodbowl.com.
