Lots of flicks have tripped up at the <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="EVHST000005" title="Academy Awards" href="/topic/entertainment/movies/academy-awards-EVHST000005.topic">Oscars</a> dating back to 1929, but what about more modern days? This year <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PECLB003064" title="Baz Luhrmann" href="/topic/entertainment/baz-luhrmann-PECLB003064.topic">Baz Luhrmann</a>’s “ <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="ENMV000193" title="Australia (movie)" href="/topic/entertainment/movies/australia-%28movie%29-ENMV000193.topic">Australia</a>” seemed sure to be recognized for something from the academy, but on nomination morning it came up empty-handed.<br>
