New York has been a favorite location for filmmakers going back to cinema’s infancy more than a century ago. The city’s picturesque boulevards, expansive parks, skyscrapers and even its mean streets have been an especially popular backdrop for romantic comedies. The latest romantic comedy set in the Big Apple is “Sex and the City: The Movie” -- the long-awaited feature version of the late, great HBO series starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis and Kim Cattrall.
