Pedigree 'The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor' Writer-director Stephen Sommers is just a producer for this third mummy movie, leaving the creative decisions in the hands of journeyman director Rob Cohen and screenwriters Miles Millar and Alfred Gough. Though its a sequel, theres virtually no connection to the previous mummy movies besides the presence of Brendan Fraser. 'Swing Vote' Co-writer-director Joshua Michael Stern wrote and directed the little-seen fantasy Neverwas and co-writer Jason Richman wrote the upcoming action flick Bangkok Dangerous. Their original screenplay languished in development hell until Costner decided to kick in the budget himself to get it made. WINNER: An original idea especially a political one in an election year is much more refreshing than another rehash of a film no one was clamoring for more of. Swing Vote wins this round.
