"The Vampire Diaries" compelled fans at the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo on March 19 with a sizzle reel. Warner Bros. has provided this exclusive first look at the reel for everyone else. As you see above, it serves as a good recap of what's happened with Tyler (Michael Trevino) and Caroline (Candice Accola) on the CW drama.
But when "TVD" returns April 7, it's going to be Isobel, Isobel, Isobel. Fans will learn a lot more about what Elena's mother has been, and is, up to concerning the oldest vampire, Klaus, who wants to sacrifice Elena.
"Isobel is very smart, and they've been referencing her research all year, and things that she knows," executive producer Julie Plec said Saturday at C2E2. "One of the things ... she will say is that she's been trying to track down Klaus and maybe they can nip him in the bud before he comes to Mystic Falls looking for Elena."
But, added Plec, "you can't really trust a vampire when all is said and done—or a human, for that matter."
Speaking of lost of trust, Aunt Jenna is going to be thrown for a loop that Isobel is still alive, considering that everyone she loves has told her differently. Matt, who now knows Caroline is a vamp, also is troubled. Not to mention Tyler is MIA, and Damon, Stefan and Elena have been kind of forced to align themselves with Katherine.
"There are a lot of things changing, and character relationships changing, as we tee up the imminent arrival of Klaus," she said.
And for fans of Bonnie, don't fear. The witch is back, too. Damon knows that Bonnie should be able to tap into the power of her ancestors, making her "a good weapon in the battle against Klaus."
"Bonnie's importance in the final chapter of this season, which is the Klaus chapter, is monumental," Plec said.Copyright © 2015, Los Angeles Times
