Ahh, Swim Week. When once a year the best in fashion brave the Miami heat to showcase their latest teeny-weenie bikinis and resort wear in tents at the Raleigh Hotel.
Local designers, who didn’t make it to the official runway shows, also had a chance to share their collections at satellite events held around Miami.
Here's a list of some of the best South Florida swimwear we've seen:
Who: Lila Nikole.
What: The Fort-Lauderdale based designer had a little help from The Miami Dolphins cheerleaders during a Swim Week party at Bamboo Nightclub.
The collection: Her flirty and fun swimsuits are partly inspired by the party music scene of South Florida, especially “Ultra Music Festival”. Collection includes wild prints with an animalistic edge, bright neons, and high-waisted pieces.
Her fashion must-haves: Expensive shoes and Mac lip gloss.
Who: Betty Bangs by Beth Gerharts
The collection: Popular among South Florida gals who like their suits skimpy and sexy. Gerhart uses Swarovski Crystals and pre-shrunken T-shirts to create her Las Vegas-inspired pieces.
Her fashion must-haves: A good pair of stilettos and a killer handbag.
Who: Mariana London
What: The West Palm Beach-based lingerie and swimwear designer put Brazilian bikinis on the map in South Florida.
The collection: High-waisted pieces, polka dots, neon brights, and lace.
Her fashion must -haves: A good beach hat, Brazilian bikini, and makeup from Lancome or Mac.
Who: BiKa Swimwear by AmbiKa Sanjana
What: The Miami-based designer showcased her latest swim collection at the Miami Beach Convention Center and at a runway show held at Dream Hotel during Swim Week.
The collection: Sanjana, who has lived in Bombay India, is inspired by its culture. The timeless pieces –featured in bright blues, pinks and yellows - include lots of embellishments, such as diamonds, crystals and silver.
Her fashion must-haves: Statement jewelry, accessories, and high heels.
