Comedian Nemr set for homecoming show in San Diego

Share

Long before Beirut-born comedian Nemr Abou Nassar came to be known as the Lebanese King of Comedy, he was a young boy living in San Diego County with his parents, who immigrated to Del Mar to escape the civil war in Lebanon when he was just 2. Nemr — as he’s known — moved back to Lebanon in the 1990s but will be back on home turf Saturday with his Love Isn’t the Answer tour, which he’s bringing to cities all across the country. He’s graced the cover of Rolling Stone (Middle East edition) and appeared on CNN, and in October, he even had his own Showtime special, “No Bombing in Beirut.” On Saturday, he’ll be making local crowds laugh as he has a homecoming of sorts at the Balboa.

Nemr: Love Isn’t the Answer: 8 p.m. Saturday, March 31. Balboa Theatre, 868 Fourth Ave., downtown. $30-$70. (619/760/858) 570-1100. sdbalboa.org
