One is a ruthless billionaire, intent on finding the Island and wiping Benjamin Linus off the map, going so far as to kill Ben's adopted daughter. The other is a soulful woman who tells the man she loves with enough money, you can find anything, then puts that maxim to the test by finding the Island when he is swallowed up by it. Together, they make one of the more unlikely, yet more believable parent-child relationships on the show, the both of them pausing everything else in their lives because of a haunted Island and a time-traveling Scotsman. Finest hour: Widmore's finest hour occurs when he's barely on screen in Season 4's "The Shape of Things to Come," when his order to kill Ben's daughter leads to a chilling final scene between Ben and him in his bedroom. Penny's at one end of the show's most romantic scene, a time-stream-stabilizing phone call in Season 4's "The Constant."
