The Voice Garth Brooks serves as an advisor in this new episode of the singing competition. 8 p.m. NBC

Supergirl A parasite alien renders Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) helpless to protect National City, so James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks) assumes his new, superpowered guise. Chris Wood, Chyler Leigh and Jeremy Jordan also star. 8 p.m. KTLA

Dancing With the Stars The remaining couples advance to the semifinals where they each perform one dance in a new style and a trio dance. 8 p.m. ABC

Gotham In the aftermath of the tragedy at Lee and Mario’s (Morena Baccarin, James Carpinello) engagement party, Barnes (Michael Chiklis) is on Gordon and Bullock’s (Ben McKenzie, Donal Logue) radar. 8 p.m. Fox

Chopped In a special new holiday-themed episode, four young cooks tackle a Thanksgiving meal, starting with pumpkin pie as one of the mystery ingredients in the appetizer basket. Alex Guarnaschelli, Sandra Lee and Laura Vitale are the judges, Ted Allen hosts. 8 p.m. Food

Man With a Plan Adam (Matt LeBlanc) follows Don’s (Kevin Nealon) advice and starts to clear out the garage to make it a “man cave” but soon fears he may have accidentally given away one of Andi’s (Liza Snyder) most prized possessions. Diana Maria Riva, Jessica Chaffin and Matt Cook also star. 8:30 p.m. CBS

2 Broke Girls Aiming to expand their dessert-bar offerings, Max and Caroline (Kat Dennings, Beth Behrs) take a bartending class with a quirky instructor (French Stewart). 9 p.m. CBS

Cake Wars The Christmas edition of this baking competition kicks off with “Christmas: Santa’s Makeover,” the first of six yuletide-themed battles among the teams, each of which is composed of a cake artist, a sugar sculptor and a master food carver. Singer-songwriter Megan Nicole joins judges Charles Phoenix and Sherry Yard to decide which six teams move forward. 9 p.m. Food

Mars This new science fiction series is set in 2033, when the first human mission to Mars enters the Red Planet’s atmosphere. 9 p.m. National Geographic

The Odd Couple Dani (Yvette Nicole Brown) is thrilled to get a promotion, but has to find her own replacement to be Oscar’s (Matthew Perry) assistant in the new episode. Lesley Nicol (“Downton Abbey”) guest stars as a prime candidate for the job. Thomas Lennon also stars. 9:30 p.m. CBS

Timeless Lucy, Wyatt and Rufus (Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter, Malcolm Barrett) travel back to the Watergate scandal era, where Flynn (Goran Visnjic) is in pursuit of an tape recording with an infamous gap. 10 p.m. NBC

Conviction The racial aspect of a shooting by a police officer prompts Hayes (Hayley Atwell) to take another look at the case of an activist (Susan Heyward) convicted of killing a white policewoman. Eddie Cahill, Shawn Ashmore and Emily Kinney also star. 10 p.m. ABC

Soundbreaking This new series premieres with the episode “The Recording Artist,” focusing on the role of the record producer and their contrasting styles. George Martin, Sam Phillips, Tom Petty and Dr. Dre are featured. 10 p.m. KOCE and KPBS
