‘Hot in Cleveland’ to call it quits after six seasons on TV Land

It’s no longer quite as “Hot in Cleveland”: TV Land’s sitcom about a multigenerational group of women will end its run after this season.

“Hot in Cleveland” was a breakthrough show for TV Land, proving that a cable network once best-known for airing repeats of classic sitcoms such as “The Bob Newhart Show” and “The Cosby Show” could produce successful original programming.

But on Monday, just days after the launch of the sixth season, TV Land revealed it will pull the plug on the series, which stars Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick and Betty White. The show celebrated its landmark 100th episode in September.

“The passion and talent they brought to the set each and every week over the past five years has put TV Land on the map as a network dedicated to quality original programming,” TV Land President Larry W. Jones wrote in a statement.

Over its run, “Hot in Cleveland” averaged 2.4 million total viewers for original episodes, including delayed viewing within one week of airing, according to Nielsen.
