So You Think You Can Dance The contestants this time around will be much younger — between the ages of 8 and 13 — as this competition kicks off its 13th season. Dance star Maddie Ziegler, 13, joins Paula Abdul, Jason Derulo and Nigel Lythgoe at the judges’ table, and Cat Deeley returns as host. 8 p.m. Fox

Houdini & Doyle Emily Hampshire (“Rookie Blue”) guest stars as a traveling medium who confounds Houdini and Doyle (Michael Weston, Stephen Mangan) in this new episode of the mystery drama. 9 p.m. Fox

Top Gear Former “Friends” star Matt LeBlanc joins British TV personality Chris Evans (not the actor who plays Captain America) as the new regular co-hosts of the auto-centric series when it returns for its 23rd season. 9 p.m. BBC America

The Detour The off-beat family sitcom starring Jason Jones and Natalie Zea ends its freshman season with back-to-back episodes. 9 and 9:30 p.m. TBS

Person of Interest The mysterious criminal known as “The Voice” has Reese and Finch (Jim Caviezel, Michael Emerson) trapped in the police precinct in this new episode. 9:59 p.m. CBS

Mistresses Cast members Yunjin Kim, Rochelle Aytes and Jes Macallan return, but Jennifer Esposito does not, as this soapy summer drama launches its fourth season. 10 p.m. ABC

POV Laurent Becue-Renard’s documentary “Of Men and War” follows Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans receiving treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder at a unique facility in Napa Valley. 10 p.m. KOCE

Scream This series based on the late Wes Craven’s horror-movie franchise is back for a second season. 11 p.m. MTV
