What we did in this film is tame compared to what you can get on the Internet, director Steve McQueen told 24 Frames. The debate [about sex] should not be about cinema. But it is, and now the dreaded NC-17 rating may be holding back the film. The acting may be exemplary, with actor Michael Fassbender, above, picking up a Golden Globe nomination, but the film's depiction of sex has caused many theaters to shy away from screening it. And having anyone stay away from a film that the few who've seen it rave about, is a shame.
