One hip and edgy role after another

After his breakthrough in "Heathers," Slater starred in a series of bad-boy roles in increasingly higher-profile films, including the youth revolt drama "Pump Up the Volume," the all-hunky-studs-as-criminals movie "Mobsters" and most notably, "True Romance," (pictured, with Patricia Arquette), which featured an all-star cast and a script by a then relatively unknown writer named Quentin Tarantino.
