Rupert Everett was openly gay early in his career, a decision he later <a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2009/nov/29/rupert-everett-madonna-carole-cadwalladr" target="_blank">told the Guardian</a> may have hurt his burgeoning career.

"It's not that advisable to be honest," he said. "It's not very easy. And, honestly, I would not advise any actor necessarily, if he was really thinking of his career, to come out."
