‘Bates Motel’ premiere gets its own live aftershow

Share

The second season of A&E’s drama “Bates Motel” premieres on Monday and it’s getting the must-have accessory for any self-respecting drama on cable these days: a live aftershow.

“Bates Motel: After Hours” will air after the second season premiere and the series premiere of “Those Who Kill.” It will feature series stars Vera Farmiga and Freddie Highmore discussing the episode with executive producers Kerry Ehrin and Carlton Cuse.

While A&E is describing this half-hour show broadcast live from New York as a special event, it’s not inconceivable that it could return if people decide to stick around and watch.

Live aftershows have been popping up all over ever since AMC began airing “Talking Dead” immediately after episodes of its hit series “The Walking Dead.” “Talking Bad,” about the final season of “Breaking Bad,” followed suit.

MTV now airs “Wolf Watch” after episodes of its hit werewolf drama “Teen Wolf” and TNT streams episodes of “2nd Watch” on its website after episodes of its hit alien drama “Fallen Skies.”
