Ed Asner asks to urinate on Fox News producer

Share

A Fox News producer got more than he bargained for this week when he confronted Ed Asner, the 83-year-old actor best known for his role as Lou Grant on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” on the street in New York’s theater district. Rather than fighting back, Asner asked if he could could urinate on the man.

Asner’s request, while certainly bizarre, wasn’t made entirely out of context. The reason for the confrontation, as Sean Hannity explained on his show, was a video Asner narrated on behalf of the California Federation of Teachers. Without getting too graphic, let’s just say the original version of the video rather colorfully illustrated the theory of trickle-down economics.

Hannity labeled it a “disgusting hit piece” and sent one of his producers – who was not identified in the segment – to confront the “radical left-wing Hollywood actor.”

When asked about the video, Asner was a little evasive (or maybe just forgetful). “I don’t remember a thing I said on it or a word I said on it,” he said. “I agreed to do it for California teachers. I approve this messsage.”

But then the anonymous producer reminded Asner of the controversial portion of the video, in which a wealthy cartoon fat cat appears to urinate on some members of the 99%.

“How disgusting! It should be reversed,” Asner said, half-jokingly. Then he asked the producer if he had any money.

When the producer bashfully replied that he did, Asner made a request that may remind “Sex and the City” fans of a certain infamous episode starring John Slattery.

“Hannity” didn’t play the full tape, so we’ll never know for sure if Asner got his wish.
