Hulu announced Thursday that it’s picking up a second season of the animated series “The Awesomes.” Created by “SNL” vet Seth Meyers and Mike Shoemaker (“Late Night With Seth Meyers”), “The Awesomes,” first launched in August and has been a big hit for Hulu, regularly landing on its 10-most-watched shows list.

“The Awesomes” stars Meyers as the voice of Dr. Jeremy “Prock” Awesome, the leader of a new band of comic superheroes who are replacing aged superheros who are stepping down. The second season promises to feature a new set of superheroes and super villains.

The season-one finale of “The Awesomes” will stream on Hulu, beginning Sept. 26, along with the entire season. Ten episodes have been ordered for the second season, which Meyers and Shoemaker will executive produce along with Broadway Video’s Andrew Singer.

Voices from season one who will likely return for season two include Ike Barinholtz, Rashida Jones, Kenan Thompson, Emily Spivey and Bill Hader.

“ ‘The Awesomes’ has been a runaway hit with viewers, and we’re thrilled to continue to work with Seth, Mike and their creative team,” said Andy Forssell, the CEO and SVP of content for Hulu in a news release.
