The Approval Matrix The topic for the premiere of this series is "What makes this the golden age of television?" Panelists include Matt Roush, Whitney Cummings, Willie Geist and Julie Klauser. 11 p.m. Sundance


Shark Week Jeff Kurr examines two fatal shark attacks and tries to determine if the same shark was responsible for both attacks in the first of three new Discovery Channel specials, 8 p.m. That's followed by a visit to the Pacific island of Guadalupe, where large great white sharks hunt, in "Jaws Strikes Back," 9 p.m. At 10 p.m., in "Monster Hammerhead," scientists and fishermen investigate reports of a 20-foot hammerhead shark.
