‘Munsters’ remake ‘Mockingbird Lane’ to air as Halloween special

“Mockingbird Lane,” NBC’s remake of “The Munsters” from creator Bryan Fuller, didn’t make it past the pilot stage, but fans hoping to see what the inventive Fuller cooked up for the monster family don’t have to go to their graves never knowing. The network is planning to air the pilot as a Halloween special.

“Mockingbird Lane” will air Oct. 26 at 8 p.m. Eastern and Pacific times along with a Halloween-themed episode of “Grimm.”

The Fuller version of the 1960s comedy is described as having a darker tone and stars Jerry O’Connell as Herman Munster, Portia di Rossi as Lily Munster, Eddie Izzard as Grandpa, Mason Cook as Eddie Munster and Charity Wakefield as Marilyn Munster.

Fuller’s credits include the ABC fantasy “Pushing Daisies” and work on the NBC hit “Heroes.” He’s currently overseeing “Hannibal” for NBC, which uses the character of Hannibal Lecter in a weekly thriller. The pilot for “Mockingbird Lane” was directed by Bryan Singer.
