Sean Hayes may not have had much luck saving the world, but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t make a great bestie.

Following the death of his freshman NBC comedy “Sean Saves the World” last season -- which he starred in and served as executive producer -- Hayes is heading over to CBS to join the cast of “The Millers” as a series regular.

The “Will & Grace” alum will make his debut when the comedy, about an adult son and his parents, returns for a second season on Oct. 30. CBS didn’t provide much description of his character, Kip Withers, other than to say he’ll buddy up to Margo Martindale’s Carol Miller -- ultimately annoying Carol’s son Nathan, played by Will Arnett. But we’re more interested in how Tom Miller (Beau Bridges) will adjust.

Series creator Greg Garcia, in a statement that praised the actor’s reputation, seemed enthusiastic about the prospects of Hayes and Martindale as pals.

“The thought of he and Margo Martindale as BFF’s makes me smile every time I think about it,” Garcia said in his statement. “We’re only just getting started, and writing this season’s stories has been a blast.”

We just hope Hayes was given his own fart joke.

Hayes’ feature film credits include the Bobby and Peter Farrelly comedy “The Three Stooges,” “The Bucket List,” opposite Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman, and the independent drama “Pieces of April,” opposite Katie Holmes, Patricia Clarkson and Oliver Platt.
