‘SNL’ housecleaning as Noel Wells and John Milhiser get the ax

Share

So long, Noël Wells and John Milhiser. “Saturday Night Live” is moving on.

Wells and Milhiser won’t be returning to the cast of NBC’s comedy-variety show this fall. The firings were first reported by Deadline.

They will head to the unemployment line with Brooks Wheelan, another first-year cast member who tweeted Monday that he had been fired. A person close to the show confirmed the three firings to The Times. However, an NBC spokeswoman said that the network doesn’t comment on cast changes.

None of the trio made indelible marks during their freshman year. Wells appeared opposite Tina Fey in a parody of HBO’s comedy “Girls” but otherwise got relatively little screen time. Milhiser and Wheelan were barely used at all.

Nasrim Pedrad, a veteran player, is also leaving, bound for a Fox sitcom produced by “SNL” chief Lorne Michaels.

The most recent season was a transitional one for “SNL,” as it tried to find a new crop of performers to replace retiring favorites such as Kristen Wiig and Fred Armisen.

What do you think of “SNL” and its most recent cast changes?
