‘The Glades’ is canceled after four seasons

“The Glades,” the Florida-set cop series that lasted four seasons on A&E, won’t be coming back for a fifth go-around. On Friday the network confirmed that it had canceled the series.

The series, which followed the cases of Jim Longworth (Matt Passmore), a former Chicago cop now working for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, had a season premiere in May whose viewership was 6% higher than the season 3 premiere’s last year, and the show had a season-high rating for its finale, but its overall ratings were down over the previous season.

The fourth season ended on a cliffhanger, with Longworth failing to show up for his own wedding because he was lying on the floor of his new home after being shot. Fans will have to create their own continuations of the story from there.

Meanwhile, “Longmire,” another A&E original scripted series about cops, went up in the ratings for its second season and has been renewed for a third.
