'Rescue Me,' 'Louie'

Premiere: Tuesday, June 29, 10 and 11 p.m., FX Why we're watching: "Rescue Me" is entering the home stretch of its sometimes maddening, sometimes brilliant run on FX (it will likely air its final season next year), and we want to see where Denis Leary and Co. take the show in its final episodes. We just wish that Maura Tierney's return to television following her breast cancer diagnosis were this season and not next. What we've seen of "Louie," starring comedian Louis C.K. plays a version of himself, has a bit of a home-movie quality as he narrates vignettes about his life as a single father and working comic. It's not the prettiest thing to look at, but it is pretty funny. We'll see how well full episodes hang together. -- Rick Porter, Zap2it Related: Maura Tierney returns to TV in 'Rescue Me' 'Rescue Me' takes its last call in 2011
