'Iron Man' (2008)

A great piece of pop filmmaking, "Iron Man" manages both to take its hero seriously and also have a wicked amount of fun. Robert Downey Jr. nails the role of Tony Stark, and director Jon Favreau balances action and character expertly. Even Gwyneth Paltrow, who can be a bit chilly, comes off winningly.
