'X-Men' (2000)

Message boards and early-generation fan sites were all over Bryan Singer's movie during its filming -- and not in a good way. Fanboys dumped on everything from Singer's decision not to duplicate the costumes from the comics to the casting of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine to, well, basically anything you can think of. Then a funny thing happened: The movie was released, and it was good. Marvel's ascendance in the movie world began here.
