Spirited away from their home by an unscrupu-lous music
promoter, Barry and Tom are brooding conjoined twins being
groomed to become the “next big thing.” But
the more outside forces con-spire to control the brothers,
the more they learn to fight back, transforming their
musical sideshow into a fierce proto-punk missive against
the world. This pseudo-documentary perfectly captures
the rebellious, dark side of the 1970’s London music
scene, while real-life twins Luke and Harry Treadaway
give fiery performances, as complex and innovative as
punk music itself. England. 94 min.

When a tragic accident at sea lands lobster fisher-man
Eben in prison, he loses everything: his friends, his
family and the only way of life he has ever known. Returning
five years later, Eben finds himself an outsider in the
place he once called home. With a knack for small, telling
details, director Ian McCrudden’s portrait of life
on the water feels completely authentic, while Thomas
Hildreth brings a powerful inner resolve to his role as
Eben, a man struggling to discover his future while making
peace with his past. 97 min.

Teenaged Aimie is a recent Korean immigrant to North
America. Living with her mother in a dreary suburb, Aimie’s
best and only friend is the taciturn but playful Tran,
a fellow immigrant with whom she establishes a casual
routine riding buses, playing arcade games and passing
time indoors, insulated from the bitter winter. Just as
Aimie begins to fall for Tran, however, his attentions
turn to another girl. This stunningly beautiful first
feature from writer/director So Yong Kim offers a passionate
study of cultural adaptation and adolescent longing. USA/South
Korea/Canada. 83 min.
