Supported by the public libraries in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura counties.
Reading by 9 aggressively promotes library summer reading programs because research confirms they help children improve or retain their reading proficiency during school vacation. More than 87,000 children participating in 167 library summer reading programs read nearly 300,000 hours and over 300,000 books.

Supported by Los Angeles Central Library, Music Center of Los Angeles County, The Jo Mitchell Foundation and Reading by 9.
Performing Books is a series of free performances for children and families which feature professional storytellers and Music Center performing artists who bring stories about the arts to life through music, dance and drama Saturday afternoons at the Central Library.
