Barbie gets a makeover, thanks to Herve Leger by Max Azria

Share

Barbie is quite the doll for keeping up with the times. And she was born to be a high-fashion mannequin. (She was originally marketed as a fashion model doll in the late 1950s.)

Since then, designers have clamored to dress her. Calvin Klein, Vera Wang, Versace, Ralph Lauren and Bill Blass have been among the designers to collaborate on special-edition Barbies.

The latest is Herve Leger by Max Azria, which is dressing Barbie in a scarlet bandage dress accented by a black corset belt, gladiator boots and a black and gold clutch. The special-edition doll is to go on sale in mid-October exclusively at Herve Leger by Max Azria stores, select Neiman Marcus stores and BarbieCollector.com. She’ll come with a change of clothes (a black-and-white jacquard dress, open-toe booties and a black studded clutch) and will be priced at $150.

Life-size versions of her clothes and accessories will also be available at Neiman Marcus and Herve Leger stores for all those living dolls out there.
