Burberry taps Bailey: Christopher Bailey, who has served as chief creative officer of Burberry for the last six years, will also become the label’s chief executive officer in mid-2014, the British brand announced Tuesday. Bailey, who will also retain his current role (his new title will be a mouthful: “chief creative and chief executive officer”) will be succeed current CEO Angela Ahrendts, who is headed to Apple Inc.

Ahrendts to Apple: While Burberry’s announcement doesn’t shed any light on Ahrendt’s new gig, our colleagues over in the Business section do. According to Chris O’Brien’s report this morning, Ahrendts “will run its retail division, including online and retail stores.” O’Brien ends his piece with the very interesting observation:

“Apple has been on a bit of a fashion streak in its hiring.

“Two months ago, Apple hired Paul Deneve, former CEO and president of Yves Saint Laurent, to be vice president in charge of special projects.
