Bare breasts, face masks and one-legged skirt-pants on the runway can only mean one thing: Paris Fashion Week is in full swing. In her first dispatch from the City of Lights, Times fashion critic Booth Moore highlights some of the up-and-coming designers on the circuit including London-based Yang Li who, Moore says, “is on his way to redefining luxury for the millennial generation with his brand of grunge romanticism.” [All the Rage]

Although Los Angeles Fashion Week usually follows the Paris ready-to-wear shows on the twice-yearly fashion circuit, that’s not the case this season, with the opening salvo -- Concept Los Angeles -- scheduled to kick things off this Saturday while PFW is still in full swing. Based on the current calendar, various style-centric events will continue through March 21.

And, while most of the L.A. events are invitation-only for buyers and press, there are a few things open to the general fashion-loving public. One that crossed our desk Wednesday is a free, one-day-only tour of artworks along the Metro Red Line on Saturday, March 14, from 10 a.m. to noon in celebration of L.A. Fashion Week. We’re told it will be led by fashion industry insider Jay Carlile of Beverly Hills, who will discuss “‘the fashions depicted in the artworks along with historic L.A. trends.” [Metro]

The “Hollywood Costume” exhibition proved to be a popular one, according to our compatriot Rebecca Keegan, who reports that some 78,000 tickets were purchased between its Oct. 2 opening and March 2 closing. Curated by Deborah Nadoolman Landis, the multimedia exhibition originally opened at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London in 2012 before going on tour, with the future home of the Academy Museum in Los Angeles serving as the exhibition’s final stop.
