George Esquivel to show new shoe collection at Barneys Beverly Hills
Noted designer George Esquivel is slated to show his 2014 spring shoe collection to the public on Saturday at Barneys New York in Beverly Hills.
Esquivel was one of 10 finalists in 2009 for the Council of Fashion Designers of America Fashion Fund, which showcases emerging design talent. He’s also participated in the CFDA’s Americans in Paris initiative to showcase American designers in the French fashion capital.
Besides having his own line, Esquivel Shoes, he is the creative director of luggage maker Tumi.
Esquivel’s appearance is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday on the main floor at Barneys, 9570 Wilshire Blvd.

Trina Turk boutiques in Los Angeles, Manhattan Beach and Newport Beach are planning special spring styling events featuring fashion bloggers and influencers from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Blogger Kelly Golightly will give styling tips at the L.A. store at 8008 W. 3rd St. (RSVP to losangeles@trinaturk.com). Linda Grasso, editor of Ventura Blvd magazine and Southbay magazine, will give tips at the Manhattan Beach store, 333 Manhattan Beach Blvd. (RSVP to manhattanbeach@trinaturk.com). Style and beauty expert Emily Loftiss is scheduled to appear at the Newport Beach store, at Fashion Island, 581 Newport Center Drive (RSVP to fashionisland@trinaturk.com). All the stores will be offering 20% off new spring merchandise.
Urban Outfitters is celebrating the launch of men’s and women’s activewear line Without Walls with a party at 6 p.m. Thursday at the store at 1440 Third Street Promenade, Santa Monica. A pre-event group run is scheduled to start at the store at 5 p.m. WithoutWalls.com launched March 1, and both the Santa Monica store and Space 1520 in Hollywood are carrying it in designated store space.
Sample sales
Crippen plans a sample sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 508 S. Van Ness Ave., Los Angeles. Most items will be priced $10, $20 or $30, excluding leather pieces and sweaters. Bring your own shopping bags, and RSVP to hyeyoung@crippen-la.com.
Openings
Parke & Ronen, a men’s contemporary line based in New York, is scheduled to open a West Coast boutique Saturday at 8012½ Melrose Ave., Los Angeles. Store hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day except for Monday and Tuesday, when it is closed.
