In an exclusive interview posted online Monday and slated to be published in W’s August issue, Kanye West recalls how fashion prompted him to write the song “I Am A God,” with Daft Punk for his “Yeezus” album. Specifically, West said he was ired when an unnamed fashion designer invited him to attend a runway show, but only if the entertainer agreed to attend no others. “Nobody can tell me where I can and can’t go. Man, I’m the No. 1 living and breathing rock star,” West reportedly said. He also explained to writer Christopher Bagley that he was hurt and felt, “How can someone stop my opportunity to see something that he can teach me, that I can help teach the world?” And nothing stops West from attending fashion shows, including taking in Givenchy’s Paris Fashion Week show with girlfriend Kim Kardashian in March in the photo above.
