‘Entertainment Tonight’s’ Nancy O’Dell to co-host Ulta red carpet event

Red carpet stalwart Nancy O’Dell of “Entertainment Tonight” is scheduled to meet the public at an event sponsored by Rusk hair products on Wednesday. The subject of the evening is how to get red carpet ready -- something O’Dell knows well.

The event is scheduled from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday on the third floor of Ulta, 4550 Pico Blvd., Los Angeles. It includes product giveaways, a live DJ, a raffle and refreshments, and those who arrive early enough can sign up for complimentary hairstyling and makeup appointments. In addition, Rusk has promised to give a portion of proceeds from sales of Rusk products during the event to the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s ALS Division.

Rapper 50 Cent is scheduled to be at Nordstrom at the Grove from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday to meet the first 150 customers who purchase headphones from his SMS Audio line during the day. Customers will receive a special wristband at the time of purchase allowing them to come back and meet 50 Cent. The event will be in the Men’s Furnishings department at Nordstrom at the Grove, 189 The Grove Drive, Los Angeles.

Apolis Common Gallery is presenting a discussion on design and community featuring Apolis founders Raan and Shea Parton and bag designer Clare Vivier from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Krista Smith, West Coast editor of Vanity Fair, is to moderate. Apolis is at 806 E. 3rd St. in downtown Los Angeles. Vivier will have some of her bags for sale during the event.

Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash-Taylor are scheduled to show off their fall Pam & Gela collection from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Maxfield Malibu, 3939 Cross Creek Road. Customers can also pick up copies of their recent book, “The Glitter Plan.”

You can see Forever 21’s new Barbie apparel collection at a launch party from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 3 at the store at the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica.

Malibu Country Mart is hosting a fashion show to benefit Stop Cancer, a California-based organization that supports research, from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 4. Fall fashions from Morgane Le Fay and John Varvatos are to be featured at the event, which includes cocktails and small plates from Mr. Chow and Malibu Kitchen, plus a DJ providing music. New York-based contemporary women’s retailer Otte has opened a West Coast outpost at Calamigos Ranch in Malibu. The three-story boutique in the complex at 327 Latigo Canyon Road is open from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, noon to 9 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. It is closed on Monday.

Longtime Venice retailer Minnie T’s has moved from its location on Abbot Kinney Boulevard to 1624 Ocean Park Blvd. in Santa Monica.The shop is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. It carries an eclectic collection of apparel and accessories from around the globe and has a creative clientele including artists, stylists and celebrities.
