French designer Julien Dossena has been appointed creative director of women’s ready-to-wear at Paco Rabanne, the label announced Thursday.

The fashion house issued the following statement regarding the appointment: “We are delighted to welcome Julien Dossena. His radical and innovative interpretation of the Paco Rabanne style will allow us to firmly establish our collections in the world of the most avant-garde and desirable brands on the market.”

A 2007 graduate of La Cambre visual arts school in Brussels, the 30-year-old Dossena’s fashion world CV includes a 2008-12 stint as a senior designer in Balenciaga’s fashion show studio. He’s been at Paco Rabanne since early this year when he came on board to help then-creative director Lydia Maurer (whom he succeeds) design the fall and winter 2013-14 runway show. The house announced Maurer’s departure in May.
