Rihanna makeup collection for MAC debuts

Pop star Rihanna has been busy in the beauty arena lately. After her second clothing and accessories collection for British retailer River Island hit stores Sept. 12, the songstress started rolling out her fourth fragrance, Rogue by Rihanna, late last month. And her third makeup collection for MAC Cosmetics, RiRi Hearts MAC, launched Thursday at all MAC locations and maccosmetics.com.

Encased in rose gold packaging, the 20-piece fall RiRi Hearts MAC line ($16.50 to $44) includes all the essentials for a dramatic, smoky eye: eyeshadow quads in two cocoa-based colors, black mascara and liquid eyeliner, brow liners and two sets of flirty false lashes.

To help imitate the star’s standout pout, there are lip pencils and lipsticks in nude, frosty orange, dark plum and RiRi Woo crimson red -- a shade that sold out in three hours online when it was introduced in May and now also appears in the form of a high-gloss Lipglass. A shimmery golden cream base, blushes in bronze, copper and coral, and two makeup brushes complete the mix.

A fourth RiRi Hearts MAC collection is slated to launch in December, reportedly adding makeup bags, nail polish and other products in pearly white packaging to the line.

In a spiked glass bottle with a stingray-like texture on the cap, the new Rogue by Rihanna eau de parfum (from $18 for a rollerball applicator to $69 for a 4.2 oz bottle) started hitting Macy’s stores and macys.com a couple of weeks ago.

Like the singer, the scent exudes attitude. Developed by Rihanna and perfumer Marypierre Julien, the fragrance is described by Parlux Fragrances’ publicists as a “flirty, sensual oriental” with top notes of lemon blossom, cyclamen, bergamon and spicy pink peppercorn, layered with jasmine and rose florals on a sensual base of sandalwood, patchouli and amber.

The Rogue fragrance collection also includes body lotion ($30), and some fashionable gifts with purchase: A stingray-textured clutch handbag and top-handle zip case. Studded bracelets ($49) are coming Nov. 29.
