Vanity Fair’s 2014 best-dressed list: new faces, old favorites

Vanity Fair announced its 2014 international best-dressed list Wednesday morning, and while it includes many of the well-heeled well known to list followers, it does includes a whole bunch of fresh faces including Lupita Nyong’o, Michelle Dockery, Neil Patrick Harris, Idris Elba, Benedict Cumberbatch and artist Jeff Koons.

In addition to Nyong’o and Dockery, the women’s side of the list includes Cate Blanchett (who makes her second showing on the list and the first in a decade), Beatrice Borromeo (a reporter for the Italian newspaper Il Fatto Quotidiano), Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, Audrey Gelman, Vanessa Getty, Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, Emmy Rossum and Emma Watson.

Rounding out the men’s list are retired bullfighter Miguel Baez, pro athletes Victor Cruz and Henrik Lundqvist, Eddie Redmayne, Vito Schnabel and hat-industry favorite Pharrell Williams, who makes his sophomore showing after having first appeared on the list in 2010.

The 2014 list also serves up additional categories including “professionals” (Nasty Gal founder Sophia Amoruso and model Karlie Kloss are among the honorees), “couples” (Colin Firth and wife Olivia make the grade) and “originals” (including novelist Donna Tartt).

This year’s Hall of Fame honorees include Alice and Olivia creative director and Chief Executive Stacey Bendet, designer Karl Lagerfeld and perennial Vsnity Fair favorite the Duchess of Cambridge.
