Vivienne Westwood-designed book on queen’s Jubilee to be feted
The Vivienne Westwood boutique on Melrose is hosting an event to celebrate the launch of Taschen’s limited-edition book, “Her Majesty the Queen, Royal Edition.” The cover and case for the book -- a tribute to Queen Elizabeth II published in honor of her Diamond Jubilee -- were created by designer Westwood.
The event, starting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, is to include music by Nikki Pennie, Champagne and canapes. The book will be available at the store, along with a limited-edition Climate Revolution T-shirt that was designed to go along with the Jubilee theme. The tee is $150, or free with purchase of $500 or more.
The boutique is at 8320 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles.

Volcom is opening a new store in Santa Monica with a grand opening party beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday. The celebration is to include free food, giveaways and a concert by the Aquadolls. The store is at 1340 Third St. Promenade.
The latest pop-cart at the Grove opened Monday, featuring an array of SoLa’s Los Angeles-inspired glassware, mugs, candles, T-shirts, totes and more. The Grove is at 189 the Grove Drive, Los Angeles.
Events
L.A. Kids Consignment is hosting a large consignment sale featuring maternity wear, children’s clothing, toys, bikes, books, shoes, strollers, Halloween costumes and more. The sale is scheduled from 9 am. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday at 157 W. Providencia Blvd., Burbank. More than 675 family consignment sellers are expected to offer wares, and new merchandise will be added every day, organizers say.
