Denim’s new looks show nonchalant sophistication
Haute denim is nothing new, but the scope of the latest, fashion-forward styles in blue jean fabric is notably extensive.

Burberry Prorsum offers an array of waist-whittling peplum jean jackets in luxe Japanese denim with vibrant patent leather detailing or detachable shearling and ostrich feather trims ($2,000-$4,000). Another smart lesson in versatility: Gucci’s denim dress with a detachable python collar ($2,400) that works for the office and beyond.
Glam jeans dripping with faux jewels, red leather roses and studs by Dolce & Gabbana go for up to $12,500, depending on the level of ornamentation, while Louis Vuitton’s clean, cropped, high-waist jeans ring in at just over a grand.
Los Angeles-based denim companies, such as Strom Brand, are also getting in on the act with chic, unique tailored styles — a jean skirt that zips into shorts or a sleeveless, belted jacket.
