Move over, Björk

Times Staff Writer

There’s a new Björk in town, and her name is Kelly Wearstler. The Los Angeles interior decorator who has gussied up the Viceroy hotels, Maison 140, the Trina Turk store and dozens of other spaces trotted out so many amusing get-ups during her tenure as a judge on Bravo TV’s “Top Design,” we can’t wait to see what she does next.

The black leg-of-mutton sleeve jacket, the miniskirt and bad Amy Irving perm, the strapless flamenco gown worn over a white T-shirt and gray leggings, the lavender legwarmers and crazy crimped hair.... Her wardrobe choices were more fun to watch than the actual show, especially with that creepy-crawly Todd Oldham as the host.

All joking aside, in this age of stylist-created perfection, there’s something to be said for taking risks, even if they don’t always pay off. We’ll miss Wearstler’s weekly fashion wackiness. Then again, any time you tune into Bravo, chances are they’ll be there in rerun.
