Amber Heard is the latest screen siren to sound off on the dearth of layered female roles in Hollywood.

The “Magic Mike XXL” actress, who shows plenty of leg, tattoos and side-boob in a white Thapelo Paris swimsuit and Ralph Lauren Collection jacket on the cover of Elle’s July issue, opened up to the mag about women in Hollywood and her recent marriage to actor Johnny Depp.

The film hits theaters on July 1 and showcases Channing Tatum, Joe Manganiello and a troupe of hunky exotic dancers who make their way to a stripper convention in Myrtle Beach, Fla. Heard plays a drifter who becomes a love interest for Tatum’s character.

In the stack of scripts she gets each month, Heard said, women are relegated to roles of “placeholder girls” who exist “to provide a bounce for the male character.”

“So really her job is to validate this personality trait of our hero or male,” the 29-year-old explained. “I mean we’re trying to imitate life, and it seems to me a deeply saddening injustice that we are so uncreative and uninterested in developing representations of female life.”

The blond star also seemed to resent her Barbie-doll looks.

“I feel like I’m constantly fighting against my exterior, or this exterior presentation of myself because of how I look or perhaps because of who I’m with.”

She happens to be with “Pirates of the Caribbean” star Depp, 51, whom she met on the set of their film “The Rum Diaries” in 2011.

The couple wed privately in the Bahamas in February, and she said little has changed between them since tying the knot.

“Nothing is a dramatic change. We’ve been together for a long time now, so it’s been a fairly organic process. I have a fiercely independent spirit,” she said.

Elle’s July issue hits newsstands June 23.
