Production to resume on ‘Big Bang Theory’ after contracts delay start

Production on the eighth season of “The Big Bang Theory” is expected to begin Wednesday after a delay caused by contract negotiations for the show’s core cast.

Series star Jim Parsons commemorated the first table read of the new season with a photo on his Instagram account showing him holding up the first script of the new season.

“Wednesday. Day 1, script 1, season 8! #goodmorning,” he wrote.

Warner Bros. Television, the studio that produces the popular CBS sitcom, announced on Tuesday that it had come to an agreement with the cast of the series, including Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar.

According to the Associated Press, Parsons, Galecki and Cuoco all signed three-year contracts that will pay them around $1 million per episode.

Warner Bros. TV has not commented on the specifics of the contracts.

“Big Bang Theory” executive producer Bill Prady tweeted on Tuesday, “Well, that’s more good news.”

Nayyar also posted a photo of the first script of the new season. Cuoco posted a photo of herself standing outside Stage 25 on the Warner Bros. lot, where “Big Bang Theory” shoots.

The show’s eighth season is scheduled to begin on CBS on Sept. 22.
